AMD Machines' machined parts quote request lets an AI agent scope custom parts made to your drawing or approved sample with AMD Machines' own questions, one line per part, and send the request to AMD's engineers, who reply by email.

AMD Machines runs it on amdmachines.com as its own remote MCP (Model Context Protocol) server and HTTP API, with an Agent Skill, for laboratory parts, fixtures, tooling and production parts. Your agent lists the parts, interviews you, shows you the brief and sends the RFQ (request for quotation) only with your approval. Engineering, in-house machining of metal and plastic parts, and assembly are combined in Querétaro, Mexico, with sales and service from Chicago. Founded in 1996 and ISO 9001 certified, AMD Machines operates 30+ in-house CNC machines across 70,000 sq ft of facilities and draws on more than 30 years of experience and 2,500+ delivered machines.

Question Answer
What can an agent request a quote for? Custom parts made to your drawing or approved sample: laboratory parts, fixtures, tooling and production parts.
How many different parts fit in one request? Up to 10. AMD Machines' parts service takes one line per part, each with a short label you choose and its own quantities.
Is authentication needed? No. The MCP server and the API are open to any agent, with best-effort rate limits.
What does the agent get? AMD's questions for the request and for each part, a check that names what each part still lacks, AMD Machines' published recommendations with their sources, and a preview of the brief with your contact details masked.
What does it not return? Prices or quotes. AMD Machines replies by email.
How do drawings reach AMD? Files follow by email after AMD replies.
When are the parts delivered? AMD Machines quotes each part, fixture or spare kit with its own delivery date.
What happens when the request is sent? The service returns a reference id that starts with AGT-, and an AMD Machines engineer replies by email. AMD's quote page says: "An engineer replies within 3 hours on weekdays."

For a custom or build-to-print machine, your agent uses AMD Machines' agent quote requests for machines instead.

How does an AI agent request a machined parts quote from AMD Machines?

An AI agent requests a machined parts quote from AMD Machines in six steps, and you approve the request before anything is sent:

  1. Connect. The agent connects to AMD Machines' parts MCP server or HTTP API, or installs the parts Agent Skill (set-up lines below).
  2. Export control, then NDA. It asks the export-control question before any technical question, then whether you need an NDA before drawings are shared.
  3. List the parts. It lists your parts, one line per part and at most 10, each with a short label such as "Part A" or "Lower bracket". Until AMD has countersigned an NDA, the label is a generic name rather than your own part number, unless you say the number is not confidential.
  4. Interview you. It asks AMD's questions for each part a few at a time and accepts "unknown". If you share drawings, a parts list or an RFQ, it fills in the part lines from them and asks you to confirm, without copying names from the title block.
  5. Check and approve. It checks the request, a step that sends nothing and returns the next questions to ask, and shows you the brief: the summary AMD will receive, one block per part, with your contact details masked in that preview.
  6. Submit. When you approve, it submits the request. The service accepts it only when the agent confirms that you reviewed it and agreed to be contacted. The request is confirmed as sent only when the service returns a reference id that starts with AGT-.

If your assistant can only read web pages, it runs the same interview from AMD's question list, using its machined-parts questions and writing one block per part, and gives you the finished request to paste into the quote form with the project type Custom Laboratory Parts or Other, or to email to sales@amdmachines.com. Nothing is sent until you send it.

What machined parts can AMD Machines quote from an AI agent's request?

An AI agent can request a quote from AMD Machines for custom parts made to your drawing or approved sample: laboratory parts, fixtures, tooling and production parts. Each part line can name one of six kinds:

  • Machined parts for production
  • Laboratory or research parts
  • Fixtures or workholding
  • Press dies, weld fixtures or tooling
  • Replacement for a worn or failed part
  • Other

Two of these have their own AMD Machines pages: custom laboratory parts and research fixtures and custom tooling and fixtures. For each part, the agent asks what defines it: a current drawing with its revision, a 3D model only, an approved sample part with no drawing, or a functional requirement that AMD designs to.

A repeat spare kit of up to 10 different parts can go in one request, one line per part. AMD Machines makes repeat spare kits of metal and plastic laboratory parts to one controlled drawing revision, so a later order of parts for a custom rig or instrument is made to the same drawing as the first. Ceramic and refractory-metal parts are reviewed one at a time before AMD Machines says whether it can quote them.

What does AMD Machines need from the agent for each part?

For each part, the agent asks for the inputs AMD Machines publishes on its page on custom laboratory parts. To review and quote a custom laboratory part or fixture, AMD Machines needs a drawing with its revision or an approved reference part, the exact material grade, the quantity now and later, the critical dimensions and datums, and the operating environment. The agent's check names, part by part, which of these five inputs are still missing. Stating the quantity, the grade, the critical tolerances, the finish and the documents required in the first request lets AMD Machines review the part without a second round of questions.

Each part line holds these fields:

Field What it holds
Part A short name you choose, such as "Part A" or "Lower bracket"
Part kind One of the six kinds above
Drawing What defines the part: a current drawing with its revision, a 3D model only, an approved sample part with no drawing, or a functional requirement that AMD designs to
Drawing revision The drawing's revision letter, if there is a drawing
Material grade The exact material grade, not just "aluminum"
Quantity now How many of this part are needed now
Repeat quantity expected The repeat quantity expected later, for example "about 20 a year" or "none"
Size Overall size (L x W x H), in inches, or mm if the drawings are metric; asked when no drawing or 3D model defines the part
Critical dimensions Critical dimensions, datums and tightest tolerances (inches); ASME Y14.5 practice on US drawings
Finish and coating Surface finish (Ra), plating or anodizing, heat treatment and cleaning
Operating environment Temperature, atmosphere (air, inert gas, vacuum), loads, chemicals, cleanliness
Tool life For tooling and fixtures: how many parts or uses the tool or fixture must last
Failure For a replacement part: the equipment model and serial number, any visible OEM part numbers or labels on the failed part, and how the part failed
Needed by The part's own date, if it is needed before the rest
Mating part The instrument or mating part it fits (make and model, or its drawing)
File names The names of the part's drawings, models and photos, so AMD can match the files that follow by email

The agent asks the fields AMD needs first and takes the others when you want to add detail. For the request as a whole, AMD's questions cover where the parts will be used, when they are needed, when you need the quote, what you want first, which inspection documents you need (material certificates, a dimensional report, a first-article inspection or a certificate of conformance), your purchasing office's rules (country of origin, supplier registration, delivery terms, who handles export and US import), and which files you can send after AMD replies.

An honest "unknown" is better than a guess: the brief lists the open questions for AMD's engineer.

How do drawings reach AMD Machines after the agent's request?

Files. Reply to our email with drawings, specs and annual volumes, or send them to sales@amdmachines.com. Put the reference id in the subject when you email files. Files follow by email after AMD replies, and each part line can list its file names, so AMD can match every file to its part.

What a drawing should show. A drawing for a custom laboratory part should show its revision letter, the exact material grade, the critical dimensions with their datums and tolerances, the surface finish and any coating or plating. File formats AMD Machines accepts: "We accept all major CAD formats including STEP, IGES, Parasolid, SolidWorks, CATIA, and NX. We can also work from 2D drawings or even physical samples." A 3D model sent with a 2D drawing is the best combination: the model carries the geometry, and the drawing carries the tolerances, finish and notes that a model alone does not.

NDA first. The agent asks whether you need an NDA right after the export-control question, and when you do, files follow only after it is signed. AMD's quote page says: "We sign your NDA before you share drawings". Download our one-page mutual NDA (fillable PDF). Complete and sign it, then send it to legal@amdmachines.com or your AMD contact. Wait for AMD's countersignature before sharing confidential information. We're also happy to review your NDA before you share drawings.

Export control. AMD Machines is currently NOT compliant with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). The agent therefore asks the export-control question before any technical question. If the answer is yes, maybe or unknown, AMD Machines receives only your contact details, the product and offering, how and in which language you want to be contacted, a statement that the project may be export controlled, and the agent's own details (the name, operator, software and retry key it declares, and its network): the description, the part lines and every technical answer are dropped. Do not send ITAR controlled technical data to sales@amdmachines.com or to any other email address on the amdmachines.com domain. Do not send ITAR-controlled, other export-controlled, classified, CUI, or other regulated information. Read the ITAR notice first.

What happens after the agent sends the parts request?

Your request is confirmed as sent only when the service returns a reference id that starts with AGT-. A check or a dry run sends nothing. If a submit times out or fails on AMD's side, the request may or may not have arrived: the agent retries once with the same retry key, which AMD Machines sees on a repeated request, or gives you the quote form. Once it is sent, AMD Machines' quote page sets out the next steps:

  • Within 3 hours on weekdays: An engineer replies to your request
  • If you need one: We sign your NDA before you share drawings
  • Then: Design review, a firm quote and a committed timeline

An AMD Machines engineer then reviews the request and says what can be quoted or which details are still needed. AMD Machines quotes each part, fixture or spare kit with its own delivery date. Ask that the quote name the material grade, the drawing revision, any outside process, the delivery date and the delivery terms. This is a request, not a quote: AMD Machines replies by email.

Corrections. To change a request after it is sent, the agent sends the full corrected request with the first reference id and a new retry key, so AMD Machines sees which request it replaces.

How does AMD Machines handle an agent's parts request?

Your agent's request goes to AMD Machines' CRM (HubSpot) through the same form as the website's quote form, and HubSpot emails it to AMD's sales inbox. AMD's privacy policy says: "This information is stored in HubSpot and used solely to respond to your inquiry and provide relevant services." The agent endpoint itself keeps no copy of the request and does not log its text or contact details. In its responses the contact fields appear only as placeholders such as [email], and the brief preview also masks email addresses, phone numbers of 10 to 15 digits (a numeric range such as 12000-15000 stays as written), and the contact's names and company of two or more characters, written exactly as in the contact fields, everywhere else in the request (in the retry key, only the contact's own values).

Links in a request are not opened. In the other direction, agents receive only information AMD Machines has published: its questions, and recommendations quoted word for word from amdmachines.com pages, each with its source. Each recommendation carries the note "AMD Machines recommendation from published material. Not a commitment, a price or a quote."

Do not include other people's personal data, credentials or confidential drawings in free text. Until AMD has countersigned an NDA, describe the project without customer names, program names, the buyer's own part numbers or other confidential details. That goes for part labels and file names too, since a file name often carries the part number and revision.

Which AI assistants can request a machined parts quote from AMD Machines?

Any assistant that can connect to a remote MCP server or call a web API can run the whole loop. Any assistant that can read web pages can run the interview and hand you the request to send.

For agent developers:

  • Send a descriptive User-Agent, for example ExampleAgent/1.0.
  • POST bodies are JSON, sent with Content-Type: application/json.
  • Each part is one object in lines, at most 10; line n is lines[n-1], and every next_batch item for a part gives the exact paths to fill.
  • A check is compact while next_batch is not empty; send "detail": "full" for the whole report and the masked brief at any time.
  • A request is confirmed as sent only when the response has forwarded: true and a reference id that starts with AGT-.
  • The retry key is idempotency_key. Give each new or corrected request a new random one (8 to 64 letters, digits, ., _, : or -; a UUID works), and reuse it only to retry that same request.
  • AMD Machines' rate limits are best-effort: about 120 calls a minute per network, and 10 submits an hour per network and email address (30 per network). On a 429, wait for Retry-After or use the quote form.

What will an AI agent not get from AMD Machines' parts service?

  • No prices or quotes. The service requests a quote and returns no prices or quotes; AMD Machines replies by email.
  • No machines. A custom or build-to-print machine goes to AMD Machines' machine quote server, https://amdmachines.com/mcp, or its API, /api/agent-quote/v1/.
  • No ITAR work. An export-controlled project gets the contact-only path described above, and no technical details or part lines are forwarded.
  • Only published information. Agents receive only information AMD Machines has published on amdmachines.com, and its recommendations are published guidance, not commitments.
  • No OEM spare parts or service requests. For OEM spare parts or service, use the automation spare parts page or the quote form. A custom replacement part made to your drawing or an approved sample is a machined-parts request.
