AMD Machines' agent quote request lets an AI agent scope an automation project with AMD Machines' own engineering questions and send the request to AMD's engineers, who reply by email.

AMD Machines runs it on amdmachines.com as a remote MCP server and an HTTP API, with an Agent Skill and a plain-text question list for assistants that can only read web pages. Your agent interviews you, shows you the brief and sends the RFQ only with your approval. Founded in 1996 and ISO 9001 certified, AMD Machines operates 30+ in-house CNC machines across 70,000 sq ft of facilities and draws on more than 30 years of experience and 2,500+ delivered machines.

Question Answer
Is authentication needed? No. The MCP server and the API are open to any agent, with best-effort rate limits.
What does the agent get? AMD's questions for your product, AMD Machines' published recommendations with their sources, a completeness check and a preview of the brief with your contact details masked.
What does it not return? Prices or quotes. AMD Machines replies by email.
What happens when the request is sent? The service returns a reference id that starts with AGT-, and an AMD Machines engineer replies by email. AMD's quote page says: "An engineer replies within 3 hours on weekdays."

How does an AI agent request a quote from AMD Machines?

An AI agent requests a quote from AMD Machines in five steps, and you approve the request before anything is sent:

  1. Discover. The agent finds AMD Machines' MCP server, HTTP API or Agent Skill and picks the product that fits your project.
  2. Get the questions. It fetches AMD's questions for that product in short batches, with the export-control question first.
  3. Interview you. It asks a few questions at a time and accepts "unknown". Where you have no preference, it offers AMD's published recommendations with their source pages, and uses one only if you agree.
  4. Check and approve. It checks the request, a step that sends nothing and returns the next questions to ask, and shows you the brief: the summary AMD will receive, with your contact details masked in that preview.
  5. Submit. When you approve, it submits the request. The service accepts it only when the agent confirms that you reviewed it and agreed to be contacted. The request is confirmed as sent only when the service returns a reference id that starts with AGT-.

If your assistant can only read web pages, it runs the same interview from AMD's question list and gives you the finished request to paste into the quote form. Nothing is sent until you send it.

What can an AI agent scope with AMD Machines?

An AI agent can scope every automation solution and application on amdmachines.com, plus build-to-print machines and machined parts. Each request is one of three offerings, and any offering can go with any product:

Offering What you provide Examples
Custom machine: AMD Machines designs and builds the machine around your part and process. Part prints or 3D models, annual volume and cycle time target, quality requirements, available floor space and utilities, and your timeline Robotic welding cells, custom automated assembly machines, automated leak test stations, machine vision inspection stations, robotic machine tending cells, robotic palletizing cells, materials testing automation
Build-to-print machine: you supply the machine design (drawings, bill of materials, schematics) and AMD Machines quotes building the machine to it. Your design package (drawings and 3D models, bill of materials, schematics), its release status, who approves design changes, the steps you want AMD to do, the machine's size and the number of machines Any machine product in the catalog, scoped from your design package
Machined parts: custom parts made to your drawing or approved sample. A drawing with its revision or an approved reference part, the exact material grade, the quantity now and later, the critical dimensions and datums, and the operating environment Custom laboratory parts and research fixtures, custom tooling and fixtures, and production parts

The automation solutions and applications pages show every machine product, and the product catalog for agents lists each product's id.

What does AMD Machines need for a budgetary quote?

AMD Machines' guide to what automation costs sets out the inputs for a machine. An actual budgetary quote requires five things:

  1. Part prints or 3D models with critical dimensions and tolerances flagged
  2. Annual volume and cycle time target (or line takt, if the system feeds an existing line)
  3. Quality requirements — inspection points, traceability, IATF/AS9100 obligations
  4. Available floor space and utilities (voltage, compressed air, network)
  5. Timeline — when production needs to start

The agent asks for each of them, and its check reports which published inputs are still missing for your product.

For machined parts, the list comes from AMD Machines' page on custom laboratory parts. To review and quote a custom laboratory part or fixture, AMD Machines needs a drawing with its revision or an approved reference part, the exact material grade, the quantity now and later, the critical dimensions and datums, and the operating environment. For a build-to-print machine, the agent asks about your design package instead.

An honest "unknown" is better than a guess: the brief lists the open questions for AMD's engineer.

What happens after the agent sends the request?

Your request is confirmed as sent only when the service returns a reference id that starts with AGT-. A check or a dry run sends nothing. If a submit times out or fails on AMD's side, the request may or may not have arrived: the agent retries once with the same retry key, which AMD Machines sees on a repeated request, or gives you the quote form. Once it is sent, AMD Machines' quote page sets out the next steps:

  • Within 3 hours on weekdays: An engineer replies to your request
  • If you need one: We sign your NDA before you share drawings
  • Then: Design review, a firm quote and a committed timeline

AMD Machines' hours are Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM Central Time (Chicago). Saturday by appointment. This is a request, not a quote: AMD Machines replies by email.

Files. Reply to our email with drawings, specs and annual volumes, or send them to sales@amdmachines.com. Put the reference id in the subject when you email files. Files cannot be uploaded through the agent service.

NDA. Download our one-page mutual NDA (fillable PDF). Complete and sign it, then send it to legal@amdmachines.com or your AMD contact. Wait for AMD's countersignature before sharing confidential information. We're also happy to review your NDA before you share drawings.

Corrections. To change a request after it is sent, the agent sends the full corrected request with the first reference id and a new retry key, so AMD Machines sees which request it replaces.

Lead time. AMD Machines delivers simple machines in as little as 6 weeks and complex systems in 24–26 weeks, vs. 40–42 weeks typical for overseas builders. Lead time is set at proposal, and machines run off at our facility with your production parts before shipping.

After delivery. Every system is supported from our Chicago office with training, spares, and service across North America.

How does AMD Machines handle an agent's request?

Your agent's request goes to AMD Machines' CRM (HubSpot) through the same form as the website's quote form, and HubSpot emails it to AMD's sales inbox. AMD's privacy policy says: "This information is stored in HubSpot and used solely to respond to your inquiry and provide relevant services." The agent endpoint itself keeps no copy of the request and does not log its text or contact details. In its responses the contact fields appear only as placeholders such as [email], and the brief preview also masks email addresses, phone numbers of 10 to 15 digits (a numeric range such as 12000-15000 stays as written), and the contact's names and company of two or more characters, written exactly as in the contact fields, everywhere else in the request (in the retry key, only the contact's own values).

Links in a request are not opened. In the other direction, agents receive only information AMD Machines has published: its questions, and recommendations quoted word for word from amdmachines.com pages, each with its source. Each recommendation carries the note "AMD Machines recommendation from published material. Not a commitment, a price or a quote."

Do not include other people's personal data, credentials or confidential drawings in free text. Until AMD has countersigned an NDA, describe the project without customer names, program names, the buyer's own part numbers or other confidential details.

Export control. AMD Machines is currently NOT compliant with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). AMD Machines does not maintain a designated ITAR contact point, and no email address, form, or file upload on this website is approved for ITAR controlled information. The agent therefore asks the export-control question before any technical question. If the answer is yes, maybe or unknown, AMD Machines receives only your contact details, the product and offering, how and in which language you want to be contacted, a statement that the project may be export controlled, and the agent's own details (the name, operator, software and retry key it declares, and its network): the description and every technical answer are dropped. Do not send ITAR-controlled, other export-controlled, classified, CUI, or other regulated information. Read the ITAR notice first.

Which AI assistants can request a quote from AMD Machines?

Any assistant that can connect to a remote MCP server or call a web API can run the whole loop. Any assistant that can read web pages can run the interview and hand you the request to send.

Set-up lines

  • Any client that takes a remote MCP server URL: https://amdmachines.com/mcp, exactly, with no trailing slash (Streamable HTTP, no authentication)
  • Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http amd-machines https://amdmachines.com/mcp
  • Cursor, in ~/.cursor/mcp.json: {"mcpServers": {"amd-machines": {"url": "https://amdmachines.com/mcp"}}}
  • VS Code, in .vscode/mcp.json: {"servers": {"amd-machines": {"type": "http", "url": "https://amdmachines.com/mcp"}}}
  • Gemini CLI: gemini mcp add --transport http amd-machines https://amdmachines.com/mcp
  • Codex, in ~/.codex/config.toml: [mcp_servers.amd-machines] then url = "https://amdmachines.com/mcp"
  • Hosted assistants: add a custom connector (custom MCP server) with the URL above and no authentication, where your plan allows it
  • Agents that install Agent Skills: npx skills add https://amdmachines.com --skill amd-machines-quote-request

Features vary by assistant and plan.

Example prompts

For Example prompt
An assistant with AMD's MCP server added as a custom connector (URL https://amdmachines.com/mcp, no authentication) "Use the AMD Machines connector to scope a robotic welding cell for our steel brackets. Ask me the export-control question first, then AMD's questions a few at a time, offer AMD's recommendations where I have no preference, and show me the brief before you submit it."
Any assistant that can only read web pages (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot or Perplexity without a connector) "Read https://amdmachines.com/agents/questions.txt and interview me to request a quote from AMD Machines for a machine-tending cell for two CNC lathes. Ask the export-control question first. When we are done, give me the finished request to paste into https://amdmachines.com/contact/."
An agent with an OpenAPI action (a custom GPT, Copilot Studio, agent frameworks) "Using AMD Machines' quote API (https://amdmachines.com/agents/openapi.json), check my request for machined parts made to our drawings and tell me which answers are missing before anything is sent."
Coding agents with the MCP server added (Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Gemini CLI, Codex) "Scope a custom automated assembly machine with AMD Machines and stop before submitting so I can review the brief."
Research assistants "What does AMD Machines need from me to quote a palletizing cell? Read https://amdmachines.com/agents/ and https://amdmachines.com/agents/questions.txt."

For agent developers:

  • Send a descriptive User-Agent, for example ExampleAgent/1.0.
  • POST bodies are JSON, sent with Content-Type: application/json.
  • A request is confirmed as sent only when the response has forwarded: true and a reference id that starts with AGT-.
  • The retry key is idempotency_key. Give each new or corrected request a new random one (8 to 64 letters, digits, ., _, : or -; a UUID works), and reuse it only to retry that same request.
  • Rate limits are best-effort. On a 429, wait for Retry-After or use the quote form.

What will an AI agent not get from AMD Machines?

  • No prices or quotes. The service requests a quote and returns no prices or quotes; AMD Machines replies by email. For capital planning, AMD Machines' cost guide carries published ranges, not a quote, and says so itself: "everything here is a budgetary range, not a quote."
  • No file upload. Files cannot be uploaded here; they follow by email after AMD replies.
  • No ITAR work. An export-controlled project gets the contact-only path described above, and no technical details are forwarded.
  • Only published information. Agents receive only information AMD Machines has published on amdmachines.com, and its recommendations are published guidance, not commitments.
  • No spare parts or service requests. For OEM spare parts or service, use the automation spare parts page or the quote form. A custom replacement part made to your drawing or an approved sample is a machined-parts request. An upgrade, rebuild or retrofit of an existing machine is not a service request: the agent scopes it with the product of the machine's process.
