A robotic palletizing cell is an end-of-line automation system that uses an articulated robot, a custom end-of-arm gripper, and an integrated infeed to stack cases, trays, bags, or drums onto pallets in a programmed pattern. It runs unattended across full shifts, places each case within roughly ±2 mm of programmed position, and includes automatic empty-pallet dispense, slip- or tier-sheet insertion, and full-pallet discharge.
Compared to manual palletizing, a robotic cell:
- Sustains a fixed rate across every shift — no fatigue, no breaks, no shift-change gaps

How a robotic palletizing cell works
- Infeed and scan — cases convey from the packaging line; a barcode reader (typically Keyence or Cognex) identifies the SKU and selects the stored pallet pattern.
- Orientation — a servo-driven turner positions each case so labels and barcodes face the required side.
- Layer forming (optional) — for high-speed lines, cases collate on a forming table with servo pushers into a complete layer.
- Pick — the robot picks a single case, a multi-case group, or a full layer with vacuum, clamp, or fork tooling sized to your case.
- Place — the case or layer lands within ±2 mm of the programmed position; the controller updates the pallet model in real time.
- Tier or slip sheet insertion — between layers when load stability or hygiene requires it.
- Discharge and pallet change — completed pallets convey to stretch wrap; an empty-pallet dispenser feeds the next blank without stopping the robot.
